DO I HAVE TO BE A HILLTOP SONGWRITER TO ENTER A SONG IN THE MUSIC FESTIVAL?
No. Any member of the public who is the copyright owner of a song may enter that song in the Festival.
HOW MANY SONGS CAN I ENTER?
As many as you would like to enter. When entering a new song always click on the ENTER A SONG link on the navigation bar at the left of any page. Then, follow the on-screen instructions, or read the instructions here.
IS THERE ANY CHARGE TO ENTER SONGS IN THE FESTIVAL?
No. There is no charge to enter songs in the Festival. Enter as many as you like for FREE.
HOW DO I ENTER A SONG IN THE FESTIVAL?

THE SONG I WISH TO ENTER WAS CO-WRITTEN BY ME AND ANOTHER PERSON. CAN I ENTER THIS SONG?
- From any page, click on the "Enter A Song" link in the navigation bar at the left of any page.
- If you do not already have a Festival Account:
- On the "Access Your HillTop Records Music Festival Account!" screen, click on "Click to Create One!"
- From the "Signup For A HillTop Music Festival Account!" screen follow all instructions, and by passing your mouse pointer over the many
that provide detailed information about how the signup process works.
- Then click on "Click To Continue >."
- If you have entered all required information, you will see an "Account Created" message at the top of the next screen. If not, you will be prompted to go back and complete the "Access Your HillTop Records Music Festival Account!" form.
- The next screen is "Songwriter Home" and it leads to eight other Songwriter Account screens.
- Click on "Add A Song To The Festival."
- Enter all information requested on this page.
- Then click on "Click To Continue >."
- If you have entered all required information, you will be redirected to the "Complete the Addition of Your Song" screen. If not, you will be prompted to go back and complete the "Add A Song To The Festival." form.
- Proceed to upload your MP3 file.
- Submit your lyrics either by uploading a PDF file containing them, or copying and pasting your song lyrics into the form. Lyrics are required and are for Judges' eyes only.
- Then click on "Click To Continue >" again.
- While your song is being processed, you will see an animated message stating "Please wait while your file is being uploaded."
- If you have entered all required information, you will see a "Your Song Is Now Submitted." message at the top of the next screen. If not, you will be prompted to go back and complete the "Complete the Addition of Your Song" form.
- Next you will have the opportunity to preview your song as the public will see it, and customize your song entry with a unique Song Image, YouTube link, Song Description and more.
- Congratulations, your song entry is completed!
- You may repeat the process of entering songs in the Festival as many times as you like!
- If you are already logged-in to your Festival Account:
- After arriving at the "Add A Song To The Festival" screen, enter all information requested on this page.
- Then click on "Click To Continue >."
- If you have entered all required information, you will be redirected to the "Complete the Addition of Your Song" screen. If not, you will be prompted to go back and complete the "Add A Song To The Festival." form.

WHAT IF I HAVE TROUBLE UPLOADING MY MP3?
There are two main reasons why music files do not get uploaded to the Festival. One is that your music file is not actually in MP3 format. The other reason is that your music file may not be in an easy-to-find place on your computer's hard drive. Before entering a song into the Festival, please make sure that your music file is in MP3 format, and stored on your computer in a handy place (like your desktop).
HOW DO I MAKE CHANGES TO MY BIOGRAPHY, OR CHANGE MY EMAIL ADDRESS OR PASSWORD?
- To make changes to any of your All-Purpose Information
- From any page, click on "Songwriter Home"
- Then, click on "Edit All-Purpose Information" and "Edit Your Account Information" to make changes to your Songwriter Account. This includes, changing your email address or password, adding or changing Your All-Purpose Biography, and Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube links.
- Follow the instructions on these pages to make your changes. Confirmation message appear after your changes have been successfully submitted.
- To make changes to information that pertains only to a specific song:
- From any page, click on "Songwriter Home"
- Then, click on "Browse Your Songs"
- Scroll through your song list to the song title you wish to edit
- Click on the small "[EDIT]" link under the song title
- From the "Edit Your Song" screen, make any change(s) you wish, including adding or changing your Song Image
- When you have finished making your changes, click the "Click To Update Song Information" link at the bottom of the screen
- You should then see a "Song Information Updated" message at the top of the screen letting you know your changes were successful.
Yes. During the "ADD SONG" process, you will find a box where you enter either a single or multiple songwriter names.
CAN MY SONG RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE FESTIVAL PRIZE?
Yes. A single song could receive as many as three Awards - a Best of Genre Award, plus The People's Choice Award for garnering the most "like" votes and the Grand Prize Award.
HOW CAN MY FRIENDS & ASSOCIATES FIND MY SONGS IN THE FESTIVAL?
If you are the Songwriter, they may search for you by name.
DOES MY SONG HAVE TO BE RECORDED TO BE ENTERED IN THE FESTIVAL?
Yes, and it must be in a digital format known as MP3.
WHAT IS AN MP3?
MP3 is a patented digital audio encoding format commonly used for consumer audio storage. It is the de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on digital audio players.

CAN I ENTER MY SONG ON VIDEO?
MP3 is the digital file format required for entering a song at the Festival.
You may add a link to a video version of your song at YouTube and/or Vimeo, but only after you have entered an MP3 audio file version of your song first. Videos act as secondary support for audio files, but are not allowed as your primary Festival entry. Videos are never uploaded directly to the HillTop Music Festival site.
