Marx Clark Biography

Marx (Pronounced Mark) Clark, singer/songwriter born and raised in Indianapolis, IN., as a toddler he was heard singing in the background on recordings by his father in their home. At the age of 13, Marx sang his first solo at church; thereafter, he began singing duets with his father and leading more songs.

Marx's early influences were his father, Rev. James Cleveland, Rev James Moore, along with Jeffery Osborne, Howard Hewitt, Luther Vandross, Brian McKnight, and Johnny Gill. In his early teens, he exercised his writing ambitions by penning a song for his 16th birthday party. (Accompanied by his 11 year old brother who played the keyboard and is now a classically trained pianist) While attending Ball State University on a basketball scholarship, Marx sang at numerous weddings and for the college's beauty pageants. Along with being awarded a certificate of "Most talented" by his college peers, he performed in concert as an opening act vocalist for the late Roger Troutman & Zapp in Richmond Indiana.

In 2000, Marx co-formed a local gospel quartet group called "Brothaz 'N Christ" where he co-wrote and co-produced all songs for the group.

In 2001 this group was featured in the Indianapolis Recorder, where the journalist compared them to the Winans Phase II. Marx has made guest appearances at Greektown Casino in Detroit Michigan where he performed, on the same stage as Ali Woodson of The Temptations. At his Church, he is an active member of the music ministry department where he sings with and directs the Praise Team, Pastor's Choir and Mass Choir. Marx has even dappled in acting with a co-starring role in local church musicals and plays where he was cast in the star role as the preacher along with other plays of CB Productions in 2007 & 2009 where he performed and wrote the theme song entitled "To God Be the Glory." He also was a featured artist on the Stop the Violence CD produced by Dale Evans for the J. Mack Project in 2009.

In addition to being a vocalist/songwriter, Marx is aspiring to be an arranger and producer. He hopes to take gospel/contemporary music to a higher level with traditional/contemporary lyrics and Urban/R&B music. His catalogue of lyrics/songs consists of over 200 songs written for Gospel, R&B and jazz. Marx produced his first gospel album "Praise Him, Even In the Storm" in 2004 and his second album, "There's A Word" with a Christmas CD attached called "Don't Take Christ Out of Christmas" in 2006.

While still looking for a record deal, Marx continues to perfect his gift and his instrument. This ordained minister has his hands full while singing and writing praises to our God. He counts it as joy and a blessing to be able to use his gifts to lead and win souls for Christ and the kingdom of heaven.
